"Killzone 2" review

PlayStation 3 exclusive "Killzone 2" might hit the sweet spot for fans of online shooters, but ham-handed writing and a sense of deja vu drag down the single-player component of arguably the best looking and sounding shooter of this console generation. (This is a longer version of what's running in Friday's Press Democrat.)

Microsoft's Kodu coming this month

One of Microsoft's most conspicuous E3 absences (at least for me) isn't dead. The game creation and sharing tool "Kodu" will be available by the end of the month. Let's hope the folks responsible have been paying attention to Sony's "LittleBigPlanet."

What to play this weekend (June 5-7)

For the most part, game publishers seemed willing to cede this week's headlines to the games and products being unveiled at E3. There's one big release this week, in the form of "The Sims 3" for PC. On the consoles, you're looking at "Red Faction Guerilla" and not much else.
